MEET TERESA
Described as “a compelling and versatile performer with diverse talents,” Italian-Canadian soprano Teresa Tucci is quickly gaining recognition for her dynamic stage presence and vocal agility across operatic and theatrical repertoire. She recently completed her Artist Diploma in Operatic Performance at the University of Toronto, holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory, and earned a Bachelor of Musical Theatre Performance from Sheridan College.

In the 2025/26 season, Teresa joins The Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program at The Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School, where she will be featured in a range of concert appearances, collaborative chamber projects, and operatic performances throughout the season. She will also appear with Opera Neo as a Studio Artist, covering the role of Asprano in Vivaldi’s Motezuma, and will portray Moira in Paul Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Tale at the Banff Centre’s Interplay Young Artist Program.

Teresa's recent stage highlights include role debuts as Despina (Così fan tutte), La Fée (Cendrillon), and Elena (Il cappello di paglia di Firenze) with U of T Opera. She was selected as the 2024 recipient of the John R. Stratton Visitor in Music Master Class with Will Crutchfield, and the 2025 Riki Turofsky Masterclass with Ambur Braid. At NEC, she took on the title role in Martín y Soler’s L’arbore di Diana, conducted by Robert Tweten. Early in her career, following her time at Sheridan, she starred as Christine in Opera on the Avalon’s The Phantom of the Opera, conducted by Jeffrey Huard, and went on to perform in various musicals and pantomime concerts before the pandemic.

Teresa was awarded third prize in the 16th International Opera Singing Competition “City of Brescia – Tribute to Maria Callas”, and was a District Winner in the Arizona District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She has also received awards and recognition from the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques, the Camille Coloratura Awards, and the Nouvelles Étoiles International Youth Music Competition.

In addition to her operatic achievements, Teresa’s performance career has been shaped by early collaborations in musical theatre. As a student at Sheridan, she worked closely with Canadian composers through the Canadian Musical Theatre Project and was later invited to perform their songs at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she remained active through virtual concert initiatives, including the Omni Arts Foundation’s “Lean on Me” series for COVID-19 relief, and benefit performances supporting mental health awareness with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Oakville Symphony. Teresa has also worked in commercial media and television, with appearances in numerous Canadian and U.S. productions—most recently in Season 7 of Discovery Channel’s Fear Thy Neighbor.

With a foundation that bridges opera, musical theatre, and screen work, Teresa continues to captivate audiences through a uniquely multifaceted artistic voice. Equally at home in coloratura fireworks and intimate storytelling, she brings warmth, curiosity, and theatrical sensitivity to every performance.
